Plymouth Young Contemporary

Effervescent warmly invites you to Radiant Gallery for the launch of the 2017 Plymouth Young Contemporary, an annual companion to the Plymouth Contemporary, on show at partner galleries Peninsula Arts and Karst.

Seven young artists, aged 4 to 30, were selected by a judging panel made up of arts professionals and representatives from across the UK, and commissioned with generous financial support from Plymouth Culture, to create new works in response to the theme of ‘grow’.

Artists George Davies, Nicole Jones, Antonia Parkyn, Matilda Robinson, Liam Symes, Rebecca Williams and Katherine Wilson have produced distinct and varied outcomes that examine, provoke, and playfully reflect ideas of growth, development and prosperity.

Exhibition launch – Friday 14 July, 4.30pm.  Everyone is welcome.  Entry is free.  Cocktails and nibbles provided by newly-launching RumpusCosy.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 15 July to Saturday 2 September. Opening times, Monday to Saturday 9am to 7pm.

Our new Creative Producer Tim Mills, who joins Effervescent having previously co-curated The Cold Truth and Not Here exhibitions at Radiant in 2016, says of the show ‘It has been a pleasure to work with the seven commissioned artists on show at Radiant. The Plymouth Young Contemporary provides a solid foundation on which the Plymouth Contemporary is formed, with the exhibition showcasing the very best artistic talent in the city, the southwest and beyond’.
